Abstract

The Law of Attraction refers to the idea that a person attracts whatever they desire and think about. The primary claim of its proponents is the power of the human mind to influence external reality, creating outcomes through visualization, focus, and aligning emotions with desires. Like any other ideology, the Law of Attraction is based on philosophical foundations that must be examined critically by philosophers. Understanding these foundations enables audiences to assess this concept properly and avoid misguided approaches to success and perfection. This study aims to identify and critique the philosophical foundations of the Law of Attraction from the perspective of Transcendent Wisdom (Hikmat Muta‘aliya). Key philosophical underpinnings of the Law of Attraction include idealism, humanism, pantheism, and animism, whether explicitly acknowledged or not. Using an analytical-critique method, this article evaluates these foundations in light of Sadrian philosophy and presents alternative interpretations. The findings highlight a realistic approach to mental creativity, human dependence on God despite infinite potential for perfection, a proper understanding of the unity of existence (wahdat wujud) in human-divine relations, and an explanation of cosmic consciousness without falling into the aforementioned philosophical pitfalls.
